The dining room was originally the women’s parlor. This room will remain the dining room. But, we probably won’t keep the awesome red and black “dawgs” decor.

With the help of James Farmer and Jesse Noble, our decorators, we decided to add transoms above the four doors off the foyer that will coordinate with the transoms over the front door and door to utility room.

Our kids pressured us to expose the brick in the fireplaces, even in the dining room. After seeing the interesting brick work, we are so glad we did. The dining room has become the board room where we meet with Jerrel every Wednesday to discuss the many decisions that have to be made. With the short winter days, sometimes these meetings are conducted with a flashlight.

The board meets Wednesday afternoons in the dining room, and important decisions are made here. Jerrel prepares an agenda of tasks for us to complete, and here we see Jerrel and Pat laughing at one of Mike’s ideas. It’s soon to be forgotten and discarded. Oh well.
Our amazing team of consultants came together on a rainy, cold Friday to plan our last phase of construction. Jesse/James from James Farmer Designs, are discussing stains with Casey Stamps, the painting contractor, and Jerrel. The stains are tricky, because the wood has many different hues due to the wood’s age and lineage(what kind of tree it was). Mitch Ginn, our architect, draws preliminary sketches of his and James’ creative ideas for the back yard. We brought photos which appealed to us, and they ran with them.

Our board room is transforming into a dining room. Neal’s cabinets and finishing the fireplace have been amazing.

Looks good. When do we eat?
