The great hall will combine the original men’s parlor and the original dining room. The original dining room was converted to a den/library. We will take down the wall separating these two rooms to create this large open living space. Our architect, Mitch Ginn, named the new room the great hall.

A large structural beam was used to replace the original wall.
Tony, our carpenter, was able to save the dowel which was placed here to secure the wall. This closet under the steps will be walled up, but in the meantime, it serves as storage for the cedar boards that made up the master closet.
This must be the strongest electric cable. It supports the second floor now that the wall has been removed.

The Sheetrock came from Bridgeport, Alabama. It was so heavy they brought it in with a crane.
Tony used pegs and a “fork joint” to join the beams so they would be long enough.

The wall-covering is blending the wood and trim. Soon a tv will occupy the space in the center of the bookcase.
