The third floor is going to be used for the seventeen Strain grandchildren. Until then, we will use it for a game/entertainment room, and probably (adopt) some of our Four Corners kiddos to break it in. We plan on placing our basement furniture here. We will be adding a bathroom on this floor and some closet space. Old houses do not have adequate storage. They did not “need” as much stuff as we twenty first century Americans. The tiny closets on the front wall are entrances to the servant’s closets. Each has several three inch dowel pegs where clothing was hung. Our children love the Auburn blue floors, and we will probably keep them so they will come visit us more often.
Abatement was minimal on this floor.

Attic space will be converted into closet space so we can store all our “stuff”. This beautiful view of Kellan”s and Bently’s room occurred when the ceiling collapsed. Notice the multilayered roof of old boards and plywood.
On the back of the house, we are converting attic space into a bedroom closet, another storage closet, and a small bathroom. The shower fits nicely into a corner space of the playroom. Don’t worry, it will be framed in – Yikes!

The bathroom is beginning to take shape.
We are taking the paint off the old closet doors to reveal the old wood. There are several layers which will be removed The new closet has shelves for storage

The Rails had to meet code, which is a good thing. Casey almost has this floor painted. He stripped the doors back to bare wood and it will have a clear coat applied. Unfortunately for those who like blue, we intend to do the same to the floors. The baseboards are brown and ceiling a blue color, can you tell Pat is not around?

I hope Kasi and Bri are ok with having 16 of the 17 Strain grandchildren! 🙂
